SACP Media Release, 13 March 2008

Reaction of the Directorate of Special Operations (Scorpions) to the Parliamentary investigation and findings

The South African Communist Party finds it outrageous and offensive in the extreme that the Scorpions are arrogantly challenging the unanimous findings of a duly constituted parliamentary committee, the Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence (JSCI), on the 'Special Browse Mole'. This arrogance on the part of the Scorpions goes to show the extent to which this organ has been operating as a law unto itself, and its members continue to behave like spoilt brats unaccountable to no-one, and even showing disrespect to the highest organ of state, Parliament.

The SACP is also deeply concerned about the inaction of the executive in the light of very serious findings by the JSCI on the Special Browse Mole.

We wish to reiterate our call for those involved in the production of the 'Special Browse Mole' to be immediately suspended and charged for conducting such serious illegal activities. We call on government to act swiftly in this regard.
